Operators and Search Tips

  1. Use Boolean search terms: AND, OR,NOT (there is an implied AND between search terms)
    • red OR blue OR orange fruit
  2. Use quotes to search for terms in the exact order specified (good for error messages and disambiguation)
    • "ls: cannot access"
  3. Exclude non-necessary words
    • How did Frederick Douglass affect the Civil War? vs Frederick Douglass Civil War OR "Frederick Douglass" "Civil War"
  4. Search for a range of numbers or prices with ..

  5. Exclude words from search with -

  6. Restrict the domain with site:
